hybridCore Homes was born out of both survival and necessity. Late in 2009, already a few years deep in a recession unprecedented in our time, a longtime client of Farrell Faber and Associates (Bob O’Neel of Young America Homes) suggested looking at factory-built housing as a cost-effective solution for his project. Reluctant at first, Kevin and Shaun toured factories (they had a lot of free time) at gradually saw benefits to that world that could be utilized. But, alas, there were still too many other aspects of “prefab” construction that would never sell to their clientele.
Thus, began the discussion and many long hours of trial and error, aimed at reaping the efficiencies and precision of the factory world and pairing it with the customization and craftsmanship that local builders were accustomed to. Eventually hybridCore Homes was launched as that revolutionary “marriage” of traditional stick-built construction and what we dubbed “Cores” constructed offsite.
Despite winning several national design awards for modular construction, hybridCore Homes got off to a slower than hoped for start as we found that even our cost saving approach was not enough to revive the industry. Eventually though, the industry has rebounded and, year after year now, increasing numbers of both builders and homeowners are seeing the benefits and the beauty of owning a hybridCore Home.
